A New Perspective on Climate Policy

We are on course to breach 1.5°C before 2030. What will it take to galvanise a response to anthropogenic climate change that is commensurate with the scale the challenge?

This report to be published on 12th November summarises the key findings from a wide-ranging political and stakeholder consultation seeking to explore new ways to address some of our most intractable problems.  In-depth interviews with 94 politicians and stakeholders held between May-August 2026 explored how our whole approach needs to change and the urgent action needed to tackle our climate and nature crises. The consultation spanned the five unprecedented searing heatwaves experienced in the UK.

The Setting the Challenge consultation applied insights from The Tabula Project, a 30-year creative endeavour that began with the assumption that we won’t solve our most intractable problems with the thinking that created them.

Political leadership is urgently required but that leadership cannot exist in a vacuum. Strong cross-sector collaboration is also required, as that makes political consensus possible and supports an environment conducive to policy and decision-making in society’s long-term interest.

Setting the Challenge Consultation Findings includes the full findings and can be downloaded here.

The key findings and next steps will be discussed at the Setting the Challenge Westminster event on 9th December.  The event will be attended by Members of Parliament, Council Leaders, leading figures from the business and stakeholder community.  More information about the event can be found here
