THE TABULA PROJECT: A Blueprint for Change

The Tabula Project: A Blueprint for Change sets out how our thinking needs to change if we are to rise to the scale of the climate challenge.

The Tabula Project is a 30-year creative endeavour that aims to provide a new perspective on the mind.  The project started with the assumption that we won’t solve our most intractable problems with the same thinking that created them.  The paintings depict states of consciousness and thought, and fundamental questions are explored in the workshops.

The Tabula Project: A Blueprint for Change contends that we need a radical realignment of how we perceive ourselves in relation to others and the environment on which we depend. We are wired to focus on immediate self-interest, but the result is a lack of systemic wisdom.  We need to think and act in a global long-term context.  Such a realignment would be transformative for businesses, governments and across all parts of society.

By examining our current thought patterns and clearing away the main obstructions to progress we can begin the work of building a new paradigm.

The Tabula Project: A Blueprint for Change was published to coincide with a programme of events focused on addressing anthropogenic climate change.

The Centre for Energy Ethics (University of St Andrews) and Greener Vision partnered to present an exhibition of The Tabula Project and a programme of events exploring innovative approaches to addressing anthropogenic climate change. The exhibition was on display at St Andrews Botanic Garden (October 2025) and via an online gallery (until June 2026).  A roundtable discussion series included contributions from leading figures the worlds of politics, business and academia.
